| Separating
the entire stellar-cluster apart as a mighty cosmic spinning
counter-balance, Alcyone's gravity stretches the breadth of
Orion, commanding both Rigel toward the inner side of the galactical
core, and Sol, on the distant outer rim.
Rigel and Sol, on opposite ends of the Pleiades, take 26 000
years or so to complete a cycle, never meeting one another directly,
so that their inhabitants have become more diverse as time has
spun by. For the Wyvenians have mostly relegated war to their
long and eventful history.
As a consequence of this quirk in their evolution, they no longer
even have any males in their species. Of course they acquire
males from other societies as willing workers on a contract
basis, being expert negotiators. Also, the Wyvenians use pre-sentient
males and females as beasts of burden, like any other species.
They just do not seem to need males within their species,
biologically speaking.
The Great Year, lasting 26 000 years was known to the Ancients
of Earth, and is well documented. Much other information about
life in the stars has passed down the ages, leaving the fact
of our extra-solar origins beyond reasonable doubt.
