Penalty Philosophy |
| Problem: The Death Penalty. If crime is such a problem (which it is), then what is to stop organized pathological crime bosses from rigging death penalty judgments? Even when crime levels are low and there is no pressure on the judiciary, people make mistakes. Also, how can it be right to order someone else to be a killer, even in the name of justice? Solution: Make a radical distinction between the DEATH PENALTY (execution) and the DEATH SENTENCE (death row). People who are deservedly thus sentenced are only executed in event of radical society threatening problems, such as drought or famine. This gives every opportunity for redemption and / or appeal on the part of the convicted. In most cases, the result will be life imprisonment, which gives the framed person the best possible chance of clearing his / her name. The final decision for execution is not in any persons hands. God decides, by bringing drought or famine or global warming. All serious convicts should be compelled to write their story into book format. Logical inconsistency in the what they say should be evident after 1000 pages, easily. Also innocence can be seen most easily through how the person tells their story. Honesty in the story telling can also help with redemption, and more importantly teach the next generation how to avoid the mess they are in by publishing it without charge or cost or profit on the www. ;-J |
