| This
bird is very smart. He had me convinced that his nest was on the opposite
side of the house for years. He had been leading me away from the
nest, with his magnificent performance. When the background photos
were taken I was standing about two yards from the nest without seeing
it. No wonder I got dive bombed and sung to whenever I went that way.
What a fearless character. No weed eater or mower will ever go near
that side of the garden again. The nest is only about two feet off
the ground, so a bit of a jungle will protect the nest from my fluffy
kitten . |

Letting
me know how powerful he is, with loud chirping sounds. This photo was taken from the kitchen door. |
The
honor that Africa has bestowed upon me, to have a malachite sunbird,
nesting in my garden has lifted my faith in Africa to fanatical proportions.
